Meet Shelly Cronin! The Newest Member of Stock Legal

Hello from Stock Legal! It’s great to be joining such a progressive, forward-thinking firm!

I started my legal career with very little interest in following a business law path, but when a general counsel role for a rapidly expanding St. Charles company fell into my lap at the criminal/traffic firm I was working for, I found that I really enjoyed, and actually preferred, working on business matters. I spent a little under a decade serving in that general counsel role and was exposed to a wide variety of business law issues-from state tax issues and compliance matters to vendor contracts and employee issues, and everything in between! I was able to quickly discover that I had a knack for creative problem solving, critical review of contracts, and drafting, while also getting quite a bit of experience in litigation.

During the pandemic, I spent a year experimenting with a broad-reaching solo practice but found that my workload was steering me away from the business and corporate work that I intended to focus on. When a corporate counsel position presented itself, I quickly snapped it up, and I have been working on all-things business law ever since.

I have a huge interest in finding creative ways to help clients tailor existing, standard legal practices into something individualized to fit their own unique needs, and in finding ways to phase out or work around stodgy, document-heavy legal norms that are quickly becoming unnecessary and irrelevant in our ever-evolving society. I look forward to working with business owners from all walks of life and all levels of experience to help them build, grow, and expand above and beyond their expectations.

When I learned about the core values of Stock Legal and got an insight into their practice, I was overwhelmed with their stunning organizational systems, their sincere dedication to client communication, and their processes for constantly educating their attorneys and staff, growth, and dedication to embracing and incorporating technological advances into their practice. I knew it was the best firm I’d ever had an opportunity to be a part of. I hope to use my experience to complement the brilliant attorneys at Stock Legal and look forward to learning from their vast corporate experience and knowledge.

I grew up in eastern Kansas and moved to the St. Louis area for law school in 2006 after receiving my undergraduate degree from Washburn University in Political Science.

My husband is a small business owner in St. Charles County, and I have two adult daughters who managed to survive a childhood filled with a mom who was studying for law school finals and a bar exam. My oldest daughter is a front office manager at a very busy pet boarding/grooming/daycare facility, and my youngest daughter is currently a senior at Central Methodist University, where she plays softball and is majoring in Business. Since my girls are grown, I unintentionally started collecting pets, and currently am the adopted mom of a ten-year-old cat, a bossy and mean chihuahua, a goofy (stubbornly overweight) golden retriever, and a loving (but needy) bernedoodle. I have no plans of adding to my home-zoo any time soon!
