Meet Jessica Kinslow Haggard! The Newest Member of Stock Legal

Meet our newest attorney, Jessica Kinslow Haggard!

Hello from Stock Legal! My name is Jessica Kinslow Haggard. I have just arrived fresh from Vancouver, Washington, and I am so happy to have joined such a dynamic team of entrepreneurial attorneys and seasoned staff! I am a member of the Corporate Division, where I specialize in general corporate practice with a focus on the securities laws.

Growing up, I always wondered how the stock market worked. Could money really grow on trees, or come from thin air? Does the stock exchange really run on DoS? How can a tiny company grow into a multi-million or even a billion-dollar valuation seemingly overnight? If they can do that, then can anyone issue stock and do that too?

As a young adult, my childhood curiosity about the stock market drove me all the way through completing a bachelor’s degree in finance while simultaneously working my first real grown-up job as an asset-manager for one of Cargill’s hedge funds. In 2008, when things took a turn for the worse in the financial market, I decided to harness the opportunity to further my education and headed to law school at the University of Idaho.

During my first year of law-school, I received a prestigious internship working for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Division of Enforcement, assisting in the investigation and prosecution of securities fraud. After law school was out, I continued on with the SEC for a while, then went in-house as counsel for stockbrokerages and a clearing firm. Here, I advised my clients on securities laws compliance matters relating to broker/dealer and registered investment advisor compliance, and the re-sale and clearing of restricted securities on the open market

After several years of working for large broker-dealers in the general counsel and compliance space, I jumped into solo practice. While I have enjoyed solo-practice, working primarily on the resale of restricted securities and 144 Opinion Letters, I realized I was missing an integral component necessary for my success and the success of my clients—the ability to service all of my client’s corporate legal needs, and an entire team of corporate law specialists to help! It did not take me long to identify Sara Stock, and Stock Legal as a very special firm that I deeply desired to become a part of. I am very excited to be here and look forward to personally working with you towards success in your business ventures!

A little about me: I grew up in Monterey, California, but have also spent a significant portion of my life living in Park City, Utah. I attended the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City, Utah, where I studied Finance and Math, and attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho for law school. I am a Scottish Terrier fanatic, and I love spending all of the free time I can with my fourth scotty dog, Duffy. A large part of my personal time is dedicated to health and fitness. You can catch me in the gym 6 days a week preparing for national bodybuilding shows across the country where I compete in the Masters Bikini division. I am also an avid sailor, and when I am back in Vancouver, you will find me racing Melges 24 on the Columbia River.
