Hello! My name is Josh Schmidt, and I am excited to begin my role at Stock Legal as a 2025 Summer Associate. I cannot wait to contribute to the valuable, personalized work the firm provides to both the community and its clients.
I am originally from Mishawaka, Indiana (right next to South Bend), but I spent many of my childhood summers traveling to St. Louis to visit extended family. I attended Marian High School in Mishawaka, then made the daring trek to Purdue University—a whole two hours away. While attending the “Ivy League of the Midwest,” I double-majored in Political Science and Pre-Law. My time at Purdue lasted two and a half years, after whichI stayed in the area to work as a paralegal at a small law firm. During that time, I set my sights on law school. It did not take long to realize that Saint Louis University School of Law was where I belonged. With my family ties and natural love for St. Louis, it was a no-brainer. A year later, I have somehow survived my first year of law school—and I am excited to learn from the amazing team at Stock Legal.
My strengths have always been writing and public speaking. Math and I do not get along, which made law school even more appealing. Now that I have a year under my belt, I am eager to keep learning and to continue building relationships in the legal field. Stock Legal is the ideal place for me to sharpen my skills, meet new people, and grow into a better person and future attorney.

Through a specialized honors program at St. Joseph’s Academy, high school junior Mallory Kirkpatrick stepped out of the classroom and into Stock Legal to explore the reality of a career in law. Her experience highlights the vital role of teamwork and professional culture in a modern law firm, proving that early career exploration is about much more than just learning legal skills.
