Taylor Waterkotte - A Day in the Life of a Stock Legal Intern

A typical day for me starts with waking up when my alarm goes off at 7:00 a.m. (and hitting the snooze until 7:30 a.m), washing my face, and getting ready for the day. Once I'm dressed, I head to the kitchen to make breakfast: eggs, bacon, and a cup of coffee. If the weather is nice, I'll take my coffee outside and enjoy a few minutes on the deck before the day gets busy.

After breakfast, I pack my lunch and head into the office around 9:00 a.m. When I arrive, I settle in at my desk and start by checking my email and Slack to see if there are any new assignments or urgent tasks. From there, I work through my projects for the day, which often include research assignments and preparing documents for upcoming estate planning meetings.

One of my favorite parts of this internship is sitting in on estate planning meetings. It's been so interesting to watch the attorneys interact with clients and see firsthand how they guide people through important decisions.  

Some days, the other interns and I take a walk to Whole Foods to grab coffee for the office. It's a fun little break in the day, and I've loved getting to explore the Central West End while spending my summer here.  

Around 4:00 p.m., I wrap up my workday and head home. After changing into workout clothes, I head to TruFusion for a cycling class. A friend from law school convinced me to go with her, and surprisingly, I have really enjoyed it so far! Today, after class, we went back to her house and spent the evening baking espresso chocolate chip cookies and zucchini bread. It was such a fun way to end a busy workday.  

When I finally get home, I was greeted by my three dogs, who are always excited to see me. I usually them for a walk around our neighborhood, or we head to Forest Park for a walk. For dinner, I made sheet pan nachos, and then we relaxed by catching up on our current show, Cape Fear. By around 10:00 p.m., I'm ready for bed!
