Hello from Stock Legal! I’m the firm’s newest attorney addition and am so happy to be here at Stock! I’m excited to work with such a progressive, friendly, and caring group of attorneys and staff! It has only been a week, but I already feel right at home. I also love that my drive to work is only five minutes.
Here at Stock, I work with individuals and families on their estate planning needs. I feel like estate planning is one of the “feel-good” areas of law. I get to work closely with people to plan for their futures and get to know them on a personal level. Estate planning is for everyone and so incredibly important. My love of estate planning began in Indiana, where I am originally from, as a legal assistant. I worked primarily in the elder law field then and got to see firsthand how putting a plan in place provided some reassurance to clients that after they were gone all would be taken care of.
When I moved here to St. Louis, I was lucky enough to continue working in estate planning while going to law school at SLU (Go Billikens!). I had the opportunity to work with families, individuals, and small and medium-sized business owners and got to know them on a personal level. This is where I learned estate planning is for everyone, and everyone’s situation is unique. Planning is not about fitting you in a box, but rather about making something for you and your circumstances. The better I know you and your situation, the better of a plan we can create together. I know estate planning isn’t always a warm and fuzzy topic, but I always try to make it as painless a process as possible so you can get on to other things in life while knowing if something were to happen to you, there’s a game plan.
When I’m not in the office, I love spending time with my two pups – Benny and Annie – walking around Forest Park or the Central West End. I’m also an avid reader. I (accidentally) started a book club during quarantine because I missed being able to chat with friends about normal things like books and found I actually had time to sit down and read. We’re 43 members strong now! When COVID isn’t part of daily life, I love traveling and going on new adventures. The ocean is definitely my happy place! The coolest place I have ever been is probably Cuba. My love of a new adventure took me to Los Angeles for a year where I worked at an estate planning firm in Beverly Hills. It was definitely a different experience being two blocks from Rodeo Drive. I enjoyed the ocean and hiking but am so glad to be back home in St. Louis and especially to be here at Stock Legal.
